My Background and the Therapies I Offer:
.I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, holding an advanced diploma in Integrative Counselling. I have previous training in both Humanistic and Person-Centred Counselling, and a background in Psychology. I have also completed several years of studying The Hakomi Method, which is a form of mindfulness based body-centred psychotherapy, involving assisted self discovery, and have also completed training in Body Listening, which is again a body-centred approach which helps to unravel unconscious patterns locked in the body out of conscious awareness. I am currently offering sessions online or via the telephone, as well as face to face sessions in Ferryside, near Carmarthen.
I am also a full Healer Member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers (The Healing Trust) and offer sessions of guided relaxation and energy healing, which is mainly conducted with hands a short distance away from the body. Healing may be given to the person either while they are lying down on a couch or sitting in a chair. I am also happy to give home visits, and also to give healing to animals.
I have several years' experience of various types of meditation, particularly Buddhist mindfulness based practices, and also several years' experience of tai chi and chi kung exercises, as well as other forms of martial arts which can enhance energy and develop focus, discipline, agility, and a warrior spirit.
With an interest in mindfulness and body-centred awareness practices, I have also been offering Dance of Awareness workshops, which follow a cycle of movement from sensing to grounding, expressing, releasing, connecting and completing, with influences from developmental psychology and 5 Rhythms dance, which helps to increase self awareness and self acceptance.
I work both with individuals and with groups, and am happy to run workshops in the community (in schools, day centres, residential homes, etc.)
